Search Simpson Criminal Dockets

Start your Simpson County criminal docket search by naming the court that holds the case. The Circuit Clerk handles felony files, Justice Court keeps misdemeanor and traffic matters, and a city court holds its own ordinance cases. There is no single screen that covers all three. A docket can list dates, filings, orders, and a result, though a filed document sometimes sits behind a different access level. Search with the case number when you have it, then confirm the current setting with the proper clerk.

Searching Simpson County Criminal Dockets

Felony and general criminal matters start with the Simpson County Circuit Clerk. They run through the Thirteenth Circuit MEC system too. There is no free anonymous county case form. To reach the Circuit docket from home, you need a registered PAMEC account and the court login. A misdemeanor or traffic case may sit in Justice Court instead. A municipal ordinance or traffic matter begins with the city court named on the citation. Picking the right court first saves you a dead-end search in the wrong record system.

Bring the case number from a notice, order, or citation whenever you can. Without it, give the clerk the court, the filing year, the full case style, and the case type. The public Circuit login publishes no guaranteed name-search field, wildcard rule, or result limit ahead of authentication. A name can help you spot a matter. It is not proof that every record has surfaced.

  1. Identify whether the matter is Circuit, Justice, or municipal court.
  2. Use the strongest identifier, preferably the case number and filing year.
  3. For Circuit matters, register for PAMEC and enter through the official MEC login.
  4. Confirm the header, court, date, and parties before reading docket entries.
  5. Ask the record custodian for a plain or certified copy when an official document is needed.

Note: A docket line confirms an event happened, but a clerk-certified order is a separate record product.

Simpson County Felony Docket Access

The Thirteenth Circuit MEC CourtInfo profile identifies the local Circuit electronic court. It lists a January 28, 2019 go-live date. Think of the public CourtInfo screen as a court profile. It is not an open criminal case register. Seeing actual case information or filed documents requires PAMEC credentials. The registration page offers Attorney, Non-Attorney, and Firm Administrator choices. Registering does not promise access to every linked document.

The official Circuit MEC CourtInfo page sets out the court profile. Use it to tell the profile apart from the authenticated case search that opens after login.

Simpson County criminal docket Circuit MEC court information

Use the profile to confirm Simpson County and the correct court system before you enter credentials or call the clerk for help. The Circuit MEC landing page is another official route into the system. It does not replace the clerk when a case is older, restricted, or simply not online.

The landing page follows the same court-specific path. Choose the Circuit system for a Circuit criminal case, then confirm the record with the Circuit Clerk.

Inside a Simpson County Criminal Docket

A criminal docket sheet is a dated register, not a story. Read the case header first. It should show the case number, filing date, Circuit court or district, judge, case type, caption, status, and disposition once the record has closed. From there, work through the entries in order. A typical sequence runs from a complaint or indictment. It moves through initial process, arraignment, bond, a notice of setting, motions and orders, plea or trial, sentencing, post-trial activity, and an appeal.

Charge blockCharge, statute, classification, indictment or complaint marker, and bond information if exposed.

Chronological registerFiled papers, notices, motions, orders, plea or trial events, judgment, sentencing, and appeal activity.
DocumentsLinks may lead to charging papers, orders, or judgments, subject to permission and PAMEC billing.

Treat this as a checklist to verify in an authorized session, not a transcript of a private case. Never guess at a Simpson County case-number pattern. The public pre-login pages do not publish one. A sample like case number from the court notice is safer than inventing a prefix or year format.

Simpson County Justice and Municipal Dockets

Justice Court is the starting court for Simpson County misdemeanor and traffic cases. The county directs people with these matters to Justice Court. The route is not the Circuit MEC search. Its official page says misdemeanor and traffic cases are prosecuted and tried there. Justice Court Clerk Joyce Hicks can be reached at 601-847-5848. The court posts no countywide public case search. The citation, a phone call, a counter request, or a written request is the practical route.

D’Lo, Magee, and Mendenhall each have municipal-court entries in the current state directory. D’Lo’s directory line is 601-847-1721. Magee City Hall is 601-849-3344. Mendenhall City Hall is 601-847-1212. Magee’s nCourt page is a payment workflow, not a public docket register. Ask the issuing city court whether it holds the matter. Then ask how to get a docket sheet or copy.

Note: A Justice or municipal case may create a separate Circuit appeal record rather than change the original docket.

How a Criminal Case Moves

For a Circuit case, the docket can show how the criminal matter progressed without deciding the legal meaning of each event by itself. The basic path is Filing or Indictment → Arraignment → Pretrial → Plea or Trial → Disposition → Sentencing. A later order, notice, or reset may change what an older entry appeared to signal. Read the newest dated order along with the entry label.

A charge is only an allegation, never the outcome. A status like Conviction Order TBE means an order is to be entered or should be checked. The status text itself does not deliver the complete judgment. The same goes for Nolle Pros Pending, Plea Pending, and Trial Pending; each describes a procedural position. When a precise result matters, the signed order and clerk confirmation control.

If a current date is uncertain, read the most recent notice of setting or order. Then contact the court. The annual term calendar can give context for Circuit terms. It is not an individual hearing notice.

Simpson County Criminal PAMEC Gate

MEC is the paid route into participating Simpson County Circuit cases from anywhere. Registration comes first. The PAMEC registration page sets Attorney and Non-Attorney registration at $10 annually. Then each search adds cost. Under the published MEC terms, every search-result page runs $0.20. A one-page no-match result still counts. So broad docket searches can run up charges without ever producing the intended case.

The official Circuit MEC login opens the credential gateway for docket and document access. Its public fields include Login and Password. A Client Code control depends on the account. Links for recovery or registration sit alongside.

Court, case number, and account come first. Without them, no result should be expected. The portal's authenticated query fields are not visible to the public, so follow the labels and options it displays.

Courts That Hold Criminal Dockets

Simpson County felony prosecutions and misdemeanor appeals belong to the Circuit Court of the Thirteenth Circuit Court District. Witt Fortenberry is the Circuit Clerk. He keeps the general court docket and the related Circuit record materials. Justice Court takes misdemeanors and traffic matters. Each listed city runs a municipal court. It handles ordinance cases, traffic tickets, and limited local matters. Chancery Court sits apart. It holds separate youth and commitment-related material that can carry access limits.

An appeal reshapes the record. Look for a new Circuit file rather than assuming the original lower-court docket was replaced. MEC status vocabulary can include Justice Court Appeal or Municipal Court Appeal. The lower-court clerk and Circuit Clerk should confirm whether a separate case exists. For records beyond criminal matters, the Simpson County Case Lookup page outlines the court-first approach.

Simpson County Criminal Docket Counts

The 2024 Mississippi Supreme Court annual report offers a broad view of the Circuit criminal docket. Its Simpson County row covers one year. It reports 149 criminal cases filed, 180 closed, and 940 pending at year end. Those numbers come from a court-system table. They predict no single case's schedule, outcome, or duration. Justice Court and city cases get no comparable annual count in the report.

149Circuit criminal cases filed in 2024
180Circuit criminal cases closed in 2024
940Circuit criminal cases pending at year end

Those figures live in the archived 2024 annual report. A current setting still requires the individual docket or a clerk's confirmation.

Sealed Dockets and Public Access

Mississippi's Public Records Act presumes access. It still yields to a court order or another law that restricts a category of record. Juvenile matters, sealed cases, expunged cases, protected material, and personal identifiers may stay out of ordinary public results. A missing web result has other explanations. It could mean the wrong court, an older paper record, or a lower-court case. It never proves a case did not exist.

Access boundary. The Mississippi Ethics Commission's Public Records Act materials explain the general access, response, fee, and confidentiality framework in Miss. Code Ann. §§25-61-2, 25-61-5, 25-61-7, and 25-61-11.

The MEC administrative procedures distinguish remote PAMEC access, courthouse viewing, and required redaction. They do not authorize a reader to bypass a permission restriction.

A denial is not always final. Ask the clerk. A plain copy, a certified copy, or an authorized access route may still exist. And never treat a docket status such as SEALED, EXPUNGED, or CLOSED as the complete explanation for a case.

Simpson County Criminal Federal Boundary

A federal criminal docket is separate. Simpson County sits in the Southern District of Mississippi. Federal cases there run on CM/ECF and PACER, not Mississippi MEC. A Circuit Clerk inquiry cannot pull a federal docket. The reverse fails too. Confirm the court named on the charging paper or notice before choosing either system.

The Department of Justice Mississippi district office listing identifies the federal district context. It helps only when the case caption or court notice shows the matter is federal.

Simpson County criminal docket federal district office listing

The federal listing marks the jurisdiction split. It does not replace the state Circuit Clerk for a Simpson County Circuit criminal record.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi is a federal prosecution resource. It holds no Simpson County Circuit docket.

Simpson County criminal docket United States Attorney office

For a state criminal docket, stay with the court named on the case papers. The Simpson County clerk for that court keeps the record.
